Writing Center
Mott Community College

Welcome to the MCC Writing Center.

Writing is a social process; the Writing Center serves as a place and catalyst to enable that process.

The Writing Center is sponsored by the Humanities Division and provides one-on-one assistance to students, faculty and MCC staff with any writing project. Please note that the Writing Center is NOT a computer lab. We cannot provide basic tutoring in saving files, using flash drives, etc.

How do I begin?

  • Assistance is available in person or by phone (810) 762-0229.
  • No appointment needed.
  • Bring your assignment sheet, notes you have taken and any writing that you have started on the assignment.
  • Come early. Arrive at least 30 minutes before the Writing Center closes.
  • Plan ahead. Give yourself plenty of time before the assignment is due to revise your work. Arrive at least 30 minutes before you need to submit your paper. We reserve the right to refuse assistance to writers who come in less than 30 minutes before their papers are due in class.

Who provides writing assistance?

  • MCC Instructors
  • Peer consultants - MCC students
